Arsene Wenger is keen to increase a lot of options in the Gunners squad especially with injuries affecting every facet of the team at the moment and the French manager has been looking at a number of players that could add something good to the team as they continue their challenge for the much awaited English Premier league title with joint league leaders Manchester City.
Arsenal’s latest target according to reports from Daily newspaper Mirror is one that will bolster the defence at the Emirates stadium as it has been revealed that Arsenal have entered the race with Serie A giants Napoli for highly rated and sensational young centre back Daniele Rugani. According to some reports, Arsenal have been talking to the player’s club for a while and a deal is practically agreed ahead of the January transfer window.
The-21-year old Rugani had a stunning 2-year stint with Serie A outfit Empoli before joining Juventus and has since seemed to get better with every appearance for the Serie A giants and the North London club have noticed the player’s form.
However, Rugani has recently been dropped down the pecking order at Juventus and he is reportedly unhappy with his current lack of playing time with Serie A champions and has already warned his agent to look for suitors and begin negotiations with other clubs where he might be needed.
The reports have now revealed that Arsenal are firm favourites in the race to sign the world-class defender and will complete the Rugani deal in January, when the Winter transfer window re-opens.
This kind of addition would be beneficial to the club and player as Wenger is never shy of utilizing youngsters while the team also need a replacement for the ageing Mertesacker, it remains to be seen what will happen with this player by the January transfer window anyway.
