If reports in the English media is anything to go by, then it is just a matter of days before Chelsea announce their first January Signing? Well, not a new signing. According to reports, Chelsea start Gary Cahill is set to sign a new contract with the club. A five years deal is reportedly set to be signed with the 29 year old’s current contract due to expire in 18 months time.
According to the reports, the player has been discussing with the club for a period of time with no success until now. He is reportedly going to get a £20,000 a week increment in his current deal with is reportedly £100,000 a week.
Cahill has in the last few weeks been linked with a move away from Chelsea but all that news will now be put to rest. It however remains how much playing time the former Bolton start can command especially as Chelsea are likely to bring in another defender in the January transfer window.
The club has already been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Rafael Varane and John Stones of Everton.
