Disappointing end to Man United decent two match unbeaten run in premier league and four match unbeaten run in all competitions. Just when things were looking good for United they failed to capitalize three away points in a relatively easier fixture against mid table side West Brom. This loss not only drops them to 6th spot in the table but also put next season’s Champions league spot in danger as they have to face a stiff competition from West Ham and Manchester City for 4th spot.
The last match of game week 29 between United and West Brom proved to be the ultimate reason that put United’s 4th spot in danger. United started the game with attacking instinct until Mata made a terrible tackle one after another to take two yellows within 3 minutes and reduced United to 10 men for the rest on the match. That red card put United in a back foot just after 26th minute. From then onwards both teams played most of the match in midfield and neither was able to have a real threat on opponent’s goal.
In 2nd half, United had 2-3 decent openings but failed to convert them into goals. It was Salomon Rondon for West brom who broke the deadlock for The Baggies in 66th minute with a great strike on left of De Gea. That goal was enough from them to bag 3 valuable points for Tony Pulis men.
