Sterling was booed by Liverpool fans as City won the League Cup on Sunday. Keeping the situation in mind, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says that Sterling will surely face pressure at Anfield. He said, “Players that cannot play in a difficult environment are not top players; I have 100% trust in him.”
Liverpool fans are still angry at Sterling since he left the club in bitter circumstances last summer. He rejected a £100,000-a-week deal from the club and joined City for £49m in July. The England winger was loved at Anfield but his rejection is often termed offensive.
City boss continued, “He’ll receive the same treatment as he did at the weekend, but I’m sure he can play without a problem, and he’ll be a very important player, as he was in the last game.” With Sterling’s strong performance against his former team in Sunday’s Capital One Cup final, Pellegrini expects a similar result on Wednesday.
Manchester City desperately needs these 3 points in order to catch the foxes, which are leading the table at the moment. The Blues are 9 points behind them but with a game in hand against Liverpool.
