No Place for Leicester in Champions League?

With English premier league closing in on its end in a few months, Leicester are now the talk of the town. Will they be playing in Champions league next season? How will their team shape up next now.

If the premier league ends now, Leicester, Tottenham with qualify for the champions league alongside Arsenal and Manchester City. But according to European officials, they don’t need Leicester to play in Europe, and they would change the format of the league to make sure Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United join in.

European officials believes that bigger clubs from Europe deserve to make cash from playing at the biggest European stage, and give their contribution in financial success of the league itself. They say fans are more likely to watch Arsenal vs Barcelona than watching the games with the likes of PSV and Ghent.

“PSV ‘do not have the appeal of the top clubs to a global audience’” as one of the officials said. “What would Manchester United argue: did we create soccer or did Leicester create it?” said Stillitano, another European official said.

“Let’s call it the money pot created by soccer and the fandom around the world. Who has had more of an integral role, Manchester United or Leicester? It’s a wonderful, wonderful story – but you could see it from Manchester United’s point of view, too.”

Fans have lashed out on European officials for disrespecting clubs like Leicester who have worked hard enough to make it to Champions league and they are washed out of it because of the fact that they do not have financial muscles. Here’s one of the remark from an Arsenal fan:
“I’m glad Arsenal have come out and said no. This is disappointing. Out of every top club playing this season, they deserve to play in CL.
Stop making football all about revenue and finances!”
