After an injury set back, Manchester City captain, Vincent Kompany finally came back on the pitch on Sunday, playing against Tottenham. Unfortunately the club lost 2-1 to the spurs, losing very important 3 points. But Kompany still was clearly delighted to be fit again after missing out on the most of the season due to his calf injuries.
Vincent Kompany is a key player for City, and he sat out 26 of City’s matches in all competition. But after finally getting to play against Tottenham for complete 90 minutes, the center-back released an emotional statement. He claimed that he has worked more than anyone to fight the injury and get back into the game. Previously, he had been trying to overcome his injury and returned against the match against Sunderland. But he was forced to come off the pitch just after 9 minutes. He insisted that he would, “fight to get what I deserve, my best years in football.” And he certainly did.
After his return, he told the reporters that he felt great and has worked really hard behind the curtains. I said he has trained enough to be at the top of his form for the rest of the season.
Manchester City may have lost a key match against their title rivals, pushing them to the 4th position. But with the captain’s passion and excitement, it is evident that Manchester City has not yet given up on the title and a little setback is not going to stop the blues.
