The Europa League draw took an interesting turn when it was revealed that Liverpool will be facing Manchester United in the Europa League last 16. The games will be played on 10 and 17 of March and the match will be certainly interesting.
The winner of the Europa League will qualify for next season’s Champions League; a qualification both teams desperately want. Manchester United is struggling in the Premier League on 5th position with 41 points while Liverpool is at 8th, with 38 points. It looks rather unlikely that either of the teams will get to the top 4 position on the table.
Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp even passed a statement stating that he wanted to play against Manchester United. He explained how his team lost a “good game” against the red devils in January and wants to amend that. He said, “You can ask my staff but when they asked me yesterday who I wanted, I said ‘Man United’.
This will be the first time Manchester United and Liverpool to play against each other in European competition. The last All-English match in the Europa League or Uefa cup was witnessed back in April 1973, where Liverpool played against Tottenham.
While Tottenham draw against Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund; another game that every football fan will be waiting for.
