One of the most awaited fixture of Champions league round of 16 between the two giants of Europe, Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain was right up to the expectations as both teams gave their best to overcome opponents but there has to be only one winner and it was PSG’s day. You could not have asked for a better match, full of excitement and passion. In the end PSG was clearly the better team deserved to go through to the quarter finals again.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea went for the kill with their full strength. On the other hand PSG was well prepared for the challenge. Chelsea was hoping for the early goal to set things up for them, but it Rabiot for PSG who shocked everyone by giving PSG the lead and an important away goal in 17th minute of the match. Chelsea strived hard to come back into the game and made some decent chance but it was the brilliance of Diego Costa that gave them the much needed goal in the 27th minute. Score remained 1-1 till half time
In 2nd half, Chelsea faced a setback as Costa was injured and had to be replaced by Traore. Soon after that, Ibrahimovich scored for PSG and killed the hopes of millions of Chelsea fans. That goal proved to be the decider and Chelsea could not come back into the match.
PSG won the 2nd leg plus the tie 4-2 on aggregate and deservingly qualifies for quarters. Chelsea now has to pray for wonders and will have to play exceptionally well to play Champions league next season. A great night of football though. Thanks to both teams for such an excitement.
