Kurt Zouma, 21, had an awkward, uncomfortable landing after contesting for a high ball. Soon the paramedics were called and he was immediately taken off on a stretcher in the draw with Manchester United. He was seen on crutches after the match and now Chelsea has released an official statement confirming about the injury. The statement said, “Football Club’s medical team have diagnosed that Kurt Zouma sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during yesterday’s Premier League game against Manchester United. Kurt will undergo surgery in the next 48 hours and is expected to be out for approximately six months.” This means Kurt will be out for the remainder of the season and also Euro 2016.
Kurt Zouma tweeted about the injury and thanked his fans for the support, promising to come back stronger.
The French center-back has played 32 games for Chelsea this term and had become a preferable started in central defense alongside John Terry. Fans are hoping for a quick recovery for Zouma, so the defender can get back on the field. Chelsea have gone 9 premier league matches undefeated, and hopefully the injury won’t change that.
