Group G Analysis & Preview:
Today DailyFootballBlog.com peers into the Group G, the so-called Group of Death. The Group features powerhouses Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast plus North Korea, but is really such a death group after all? Our bloggers post their answers.

Greg Neville: Sadly one of three teams – Brazil, Portugal, Cote d’Ivoire – will not advance out of the ‘Group of Death’. North Korea will be outclassed. The first game of the group – Ivory Coast v Portugal in Port Elizabeth – will hold the key. Brazil and Portugal advance.

Ron Patel: The Ivory Coast must be cursing their luck. They landed in the group of death in 2006 and find themselves in another struggle three years later. Record five-time champs Brazil and Portugal, which turned things around in the second half of qualifying, finish 1-2.

Alex Michaels: Completely agree Greg that the winner of Portugal-Ivory Coast holds the key. The Portuguese showed signs of recovery to qualify through the play-offs, and could hit form at the right time. Probably shouldn’t write-off the Koreans, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brazil slip up in one of the three matches. Still, they will go through and I’m going for Ivory Coast to join them.

Peter Howard:
As close to a Group of Death as this tournament has, but not nearly as tough as the pundits are making it out to be. Brazil is the class of this Group. Portugal ought to be considered a powerhouse, but after a mediocre qualifying tournament, it will actually have an uphill battle. Ivory Coast will join Brazil in advancing.

On Thursday we’ll have our final group preview with Group H.
