Group E Analysis & Preview:
Group E is up for examination today in DailyFootballBlog.com’s capsule preview of the 2010 World Cup. The Netherlands is the clear favorite with Cameroon and Denmark a close second and Japan bringing up the rear. Here’s what our bloggers think:

Greg Neville: The World Cup darlings of 1990 – Cameroon – is back. Absent from the 2006 edition, Cameroon comes into WC10 ranked No.11 in the world and No.1 in Africa. At their best, the Cameroonians will go close to their QF performance in 1990. Netherlands and Cameroon advance.

Ron Patel: Is this the year the Netherlands finally does something big at the World Cup? Sure they waltzed in qualifying, but they had the easiest group. They’ll progress comfortably – wait until later in the tournament. Cameroon might be the highest ranked African team, but no way are they better than the Ivory Coast or Ghana, who got much tougher groups. Netherlands and resilient Denmark to advance.

Alex Michaels: The Netherlands are strongly fancied this time around but they have been struck by the lengthy injury to star striker Robin Van Persie. A lot will depend on his recovery and fitness, but the Dutch will have a heavy following in South Africa. The Danes qualified with a game to spare, while Cameroon will always be difficult to play. Definitely a tough group to call, but I will go for the Dutch and Cameroon. For now.

Peter Howard: The Dutch should have little trouble getting through, but all eyes will be on Cameroon in this Group. Cameroon is likely to make the deepest run of any African nation, which will get them more attention than most as the tournament advances.

We’ll have a Group F preview on Tuesday.
