Group D Analysis & Preview:
The DailyFootballBlog.com rolls on in its preview of the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa beginning June 11. Today our bloggers breakdown Group D, home of Germany, Australia, Serbia and Ghana.

Greg Neville: This will be the most highly-contested group – not the so-called ‘Group of Death’ G. Each point and every goal, with 6-Germany, 20-Serbia, 21-Australia and 37-Ghana, will be crucial in this group. No gimme matches here. Germany and Australia advance.

Ron Patel: Gotta love the Germans. Their only big name is Michael Ballack, yet the Germans finished runners-up in 2002, reached the semis in 2006, and came second at Euro 2008. No fuss here, despite the tough group. The fight for second is a toss up, but Australia edges underrated Serbia.

Alex Michaels: Always big-tournament players, the Germans will have three good matches to get into their stride. Any slip-up could see a second round match against England, so Ballack and co. will be determined to win the group. The Aussies love to mix it with the best on the big stage, but I think Michael Essien’s Ghana will be strong enough to finish second.

Peter Howard: The Germans are the best team here, and will advance with ease, but the three remaining nations will face a long road to get through. The Socceroos have to be wishing for another Group, because they won’t make it out of this section. The final spot will come down to the Ghana vs. Serbia match, which Serbia will sneak out of with a win.

Check back tomorrow for a quick preview on Group E.

Maybe if you didn’t limit yourself to german football you would realise that Serbia is stronger in defence and midfild… and germany in front… germany doesn’t have the likes of Vidic or Ivanovic in defence…
