Group A Analysis & Preview:
Each day DailyFootballBlog.com will preview a group from the upcoming 2012 World Cup. Today we’ll start from the top our writers will give some brief thoughts on Group A which consists of host South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay and France.

Greg Neville: There is no justice for France, at least in the group stage, as they drew one of the easier groups. Thierry Henry must have pick-pocketed the luck of the Irish along with his handy work in the qualifying playoff. France and Mexico advance.

Ron Patel: France must like FIFA even more. The geniuses at the world’s governing body put South Africa into pot 1 in the draw, alongside the heavyweights, and Les Bleus were the lucky team to draw the hosts. The battle for second lies between revitalized Mexico and Diego Forlan’s Uruguay. Mexico takes it.

Alex Michaels: I’m still not convinced with France. Sure, the draw worked out well at this stage, but the cracks were showing long before they fumbled their way to the final in 2006. They don’t have Zidane to get them there now and with Domenech struggling to keep them united, I’m going for Uruguay and home advantage to see South Africa through.

Peter Howard: Mexico had to be feeling so good about its draw until the European pot got picked. However, was there any doubt Les Bleus were destined for this Group. All of South Africa (and likely all of Ireland) will be pushing for the lowest ranked African nation in the tournament, but France and Mexico are simply too good to not advance.

S.A is the weakest team in the WC. So i dont bealive they’ll make it pass the group stages. Uruguay always has a hard time agains mexico, dont think it will be any different this time around. France is France, a soccer powerhouse. But they are inconsistent, just look at what happened at 06WC and during eliminations this year. Mexico started slow, but regained form, their key players are starting to get more playing time, so it seems that they might get better.
I think Mexico will make it through and the second spot will be between uruguay and France.

  5. Fabian says:

Uruguay will be a finalist…once again. Prepare for the shocker

“france fumbled their way to the final in 2006″

there’s no way you watched the 2006 world cup.

  7. Alberto says:

Uruguay will re-establish its credentials. It will be Mexico and Uruguay that will move forward.

  8. Felipe says:

I’m Mexican and I know we won’t make it to the next round. You guys did not see Uruguay play their matches. They will definately shock the world. France is done and Mexico has nothing. Uruguay and South Africa advance.
