The MLS could not have asked for more drama heading into the final weekend of the regular season, with six teams vying for two remaining MLS Cup Playoff berths.
Entering play on Saturday, Colorado had 40 points, while Toronto FC, D.C. United, FC Dallas and New England all holding 39 points. Real Salt Lake came into its final match with 37 points.

D.C. United was on the road in Kansas City, and entered stoppage time up 2-1, but Claudio Lopez netted a penalty kick in the 92nd minute for the Wizards to end the game in a 2-2 draw. That late goal was a painful end to the season for D.C. United as it eliminated the club from postseason contention.

However, Saturday’s action certainly shows that it is much easier said than done.
