When the going gets tough, the tough get going – and for under-fire Diego Maradona.
Short Bio
Lionel Messi was born on August 24, 1987. He began playing football at a young age, when he was only five years old. He played at this time for a local club coached by his father. It was called Grandoli. When 1995 came around, he switched to Newells Old Boys, a team based in Rosario, his home city. He was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency at the age of 11, and the treatment for this deficiency cost $900 per month. He, however, was able to sign with a team who was willing to pay for the costs of treatment, and this team was Barcelona. He arranged a tryout, and was signed after they saw him play. He moved to Spain, and he started playing for the clubs youth teams.
Lionel Messi has been called one of the best football players of his generation, and shows us all that through hard work, you can overcome anything.
