Let the boss know that for the next month you might be a bit tired and cranky at work but it will be all worth it if the Socceroos can provide the excitement of their 2006 run.
Should Australia advance out of its challenging group stage with Germany, Ghana and Serbia, the old enemy England could await in the knockout stage. But to watch it Down Under you’ll have a few late nights and some early starts.
Here’s your comprehensive SBS World Cup TV schedule. We’ve got all the dates/times in ET so that you don’t have to figure out the time difference with South Africa.
There’s a few group matches with a 9.30pm kick-off but the Aussies only got 12am and 4.30am starts so it will either be a few beers and midnight snacks or coffee and vegemite toast while cheering on the Socceroos.
It all gets underway on Friday night, June 11 and you won’t have to wait long for Australia’s first match of the tournament. Set the alarm clock – Monday, June 14 at 4.30am … SBS has the call for the Australia v Germany match in Durban.

how come it says “Sat 11-Jun 23:00 1 LIVE South Africa v Mexico”
i thought this game was on FRIDAY night?
good eye … correct date, wrong day on this one. South Africa v Mexico – well it’s tonight, only a few hours to go. Excited?
Greg, Why are there no local Australian times attached to the game schedule that will make it easier to work out a sleep pattern to get as many games as possible. Thanks !.
Greg, I take back my comments as I seem already asleep not noticing that you have a time associated with each of the games above. Sorry !.
haha
I also found it …
Aussie aussie aussie
Got my eyes glued open as we have such a late run of kick offs but should be exciting
To the publishers, can you verify game times in EST, just so other time zones can calculate the time difference ensuring not to miss a game
Diz B: Times are AEST … -30 min for NT and SA. -2hrs for AWST.
Max: how do you go on about 2-3 hrs of sleep?
I was disappointed with SBS for not bringing the whole opening ceremony. Pretty disappointed and I had no other choice to turn to.
its all about football and winning. not watching dancers and fireworks. Its football not skating on lce!!
i think australia is behind everybody regarding communication
there’s website is behind everyone even the world third country
Australia has no idea how to properly television (and all the others media too) a World Cup! Such an important world event!!
And the commentators during the games are boring!!! They look like are at the funeral!!! This is the World Cup!! Where is the excitement??
Hey guys
You dont even know what boring is until you have seen the NZ TV presenters or TV NZ schedule. NZ will only see about 20 games (live and delayed) in total. Thank goodness for free to air tv from SBS!! Consider yourselves really lucky…..
Australia has no idea how to properly television (and all the others media too) a World Cup! Such an important world event!!
And the commentators during the games are boring.
The sickly, racist, & biased comments by ZELJO KALAC during the Ghana -V- Australia SBS telecast on 19 June, ( re Germany – Serbia game) belongs in the last century…….Zeljo get a life or go back to the last century. Australians of various ethnic backgrounds don’t need politically biased viewpoints to continue inciting conflicts especially in the Sporting Arena…. surely we have all moved on!!!!!!!!!!.
GO SOCCEROOS
Can anybody tell me the start time for the Ghana/Uruguay game on SBS please??
Well Australian SBS have managed to ruin the World Cup for me for certain…I have diligently watched almost everything but do you think those dummies would sensible publish the two semi-final matches?…NOTHING. Only the most important p[art of the entire series and those aholes publish nothing…where the shag are our games you morons?
Can’t even find a bloody replay of either semi-final listed…yet they do continue to rehash the same old early matches we have seen 6 times already.
In many places bastards like Murdoch have pirated this world sport from those that actually pay the players wages….My answer is ‘stuff you all’…you greedy bastards ruin everyones pleasure.
I sure won’t be going to another live match, and nor will I ever watch a paid broadcast. If it ain’t for free….then it ain’t for me. It’s time we public made a stand against these restrictions.
