2010 World Cup Odds

According to Ladbrokes and many other reputable online betting sites, Spain is the hot pick to winthe 2010 World Cup.

Spain is presently the 4-1 favorites to win the World Cup. England is second at 5-1, Brazil third at 11-2 with Argentina and Germany next at 9-1.

Led by star Fernando Torres, the Spaniards will begin their Cup title run in arguably the easiest of the groups, Group H, which features Honduras, Chile and Switzerland.

Spain is also buoyed by what could be an agreeable round of 16 match. The Group H winner is scheduled to meet the Group G No. 2 team, which could be Portugal or the Ivory Coast.

Spain is making their 13th World Cup appearance. Their best prior performance was a fourth place finish in 1950. Lucky #13 anyone?

Unfortunately for millions of Europeans, these odds will never be available. State run betting monopolies offer much poorer value, so the Right2bet petition is lobbying the EU to open gambling markets so everyone can enjoy the benefits of a competitive market http://cli.gs/9ESzdA

  2. hi i think new zealand will win the world cup ive jsut put a 2000 pound bet on them to win i think its really tight, brazil are good but dont have the class like a team like new zealand its a no brainer

  3. I hope this is the year the bookmakers got the odds right on England. I hope we are as strong 2010 World Cup contenders as the market suggests. An outside bet has to be the Ivory Coast. I saw them outplay Holland and Argentina in the 2006 World Cup. Luck was not on their side though and they finished third. I hope this 2010 World Cup is a good one with plenty of entertaining Football.

  4. As always England seem to have been given really low odds by all the online bookmakers. Really surprising when you consider it’s 44 years since they last won it. No other team in the top 8 (apart from Spain who came second in 1982) has gone that long without winning the World Cup!

Spain did not finish second in 1982

  8. moris says:

Spain had played excellent football in the qualifying matches. All their star players are in top notch. May be that’s why they are at the top among all European teams . Even football experts at http://www.oleole.com/football-results/ls.asp have termed Spain as ‘Black Horse’ .

  9. James Mackey says:

    Chile al da way

  10. My apologies Eduardo, your right. They only hosted the World Cup in 1982.

  12. DEMES says:

I’m Greek, and I wish my team goes as far as it can in this World Cup. Never the less, I’m sure that the winner will be a SPANISH TALKING COUNTRY ( BRAZIL speaks Portuguese ) and I’ll narrow it it down to Argentina or Spain. I did a scenario and these two teams are met in semi-finals and in the other it’s Brazil vs Uruguay. Wouln’t it be fantastic if we saw a final between ARGENTINA-BRAZIL, or SPAIN-BRAZIL ???

  13. Evert says:

Although I Am German I am extremely confident that the country to beat and win the cup is The Netherlands they have an fantasic team of stars with so many that can step up if required. Do not be fooled this is their year very very strong no internal problems

Yes, the New Zealand team is classy- classy like playing football in tuxedos is classy, like drinking tea while goaltending is classy. You can go ahead and wipe your buttocks with that marker to get some proper use out of it.

I wonder how many people got the World Cup winners correctly – quite a few I would imagine as Spain were the favourites. I think 4-1 seemed like good odds. This is not to say it wasn’t close though – a fantastic tournament

Fernando Torres is playing for Chelsea. It's fantastic!!!
